Rams GM talks to NFL: ‘I love it’

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead and coach Sean McVay have talked with NFL teams about the possibility of moving forward with their futures.NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport first reported the Rams would move forward with a decision on the fate of Jared Goff.NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones first reported McVee would be moving to the Arizona Cardinals, the team with the most cap space at $16 million.ESPN.com reported McVeigh would be a candidate to be named the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
McVee has been a coach for three NFL seasons and had a successful coaching career as an assistant at UCLA and Alabama.
He was the quarterbacks coach under coach Matt Barkley in the 1980s and served as quarterbacks coach in the NFL for four years.
McVeigh spent a year as head coach at South Florida, where he was a member of the NFL’s National Championship Teams of 1980 and 1981.
He also served as offensive coordinator under Mike Nolan in Philadelphia.
McDonald, a former quarterback for the Rams, was the head coach and quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos from 2003-10.
He coached at Cal from 2006-08.
McPhee is the second NFL executive to be promoted in the offseason, joining Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider.
McKenzie and McVeaugh met with the New York Jets on Tuesday to discuss their futures, per a league source.
McKeigh will be the fourth head coach in NFL history to leave his job to become a head coach, joining Bill Belichick, John Madden and Bill Walsh.
McLeod was named the Rams’ head coach last month.
McLean’s hiring came as the team was expected to finish the season with the worst record in the NFC West.
The team’s struggles during the regular season led to a 5-11 record.
